Once you have determined that you need a new roof, the following are the steps you can take:
Determine the insurance coverage and payment you will receive
If you have homeowner’s insurance that will pay for all or some of your roof replacement, you should process all insurance claims before you finalize the contractor and roof material you will install to understand what costs the insurance will cover and what costs you may have to cover out of pocket.
Determine the warranty coverage you will receive
You may have a roof installation and materials warranty from when the roof was installed. The roof installation warranty will be from the roofing company that installed the roof and the materials warranty will be from the company that manufactured the roofing materials. You should process these warranty claims, if applicable, to fully understand what will be covered by the warranty and what costs you may have to pay for out of pocket.
